Some historians believe that choosing the day of independence on 15 August (15 August) was Mountbatten’s personal decision. Mountbatten wanted to show the people that everything was under his control. Mountbatten was auspicious on August 15, so he chose this date for India’s independence. August 15 was auspicious for Mountbatten because the Japanese Army surrendered on August 15, 1945, at the time of World War II and Lord Mountbatten was commander of Allied Forces at that time.
